The CHEER 2015 promo video

  • Clarissa Doreen

I have been an avid fan of Cheer for the past 11 years where it was held in the Bukit Jalil stadium when Shirtliff was the champion.

However, watching this year’s Cheer competition is getting monotonous because their stunts (twists, turns and somersaults, etc) is so routine for every team. Whether or not, this standardised routine performance was set by the Organising Committee, I feel that it does not enhance creativity and uniqueness in each team’s showmanship.

Hosting Cheer 2015 in the Sunway Convention Centre is not the best ideal place for cheerleading due to constraints of seating arrangements and not getting a “bird’s eye view”. I hope that the Organising Committee will revert Cheer 2016 to the proper stadium in Bukit Jalil.

    • R.AGE

Thanks for the feedback! We’ll definitely discuss moving the event back to the stadium for next year.

As for the performances, we as organisers have absolutely no influence on them whatsoever. These routines are choreographed by the teams and their coaches, based on international cheerleading standards.

Performing to these standards helps the cheerleaders avoid injuries, and helps them improve the more technical aspects of the sport, so they can be more competitive on the international stage.

  • Abernathy Yohan

I really like the new venue at Sunway Pyramid Convention Center. It really allows us to walk freely and roam around outside the competition area. The facilities there are also better compared to those of the Stadium (eg. the toilets). Eventhough the viewing of the teams are compromised, I feel that the big screens really help to make up for it. The team routine videos also make up for this loss. In addition to these, I also like the addition of team videos that were showed before and after the performances as well as the new addition, the celebrity supporters.
I sincerely hope that you can keep the competition in Sunway Pyramid Convention Center as it is the better of the two venues that have been used for the Cheer competitions.

    • R.AGE

Thanks for the feedback, Abernathy! We have a lot to consider for CHEER 2016, so all feedback is helpful. All we really care about is taking the Malaysian cheerleading scene to the next level every year, and hopefully we’ve done that this year. See you at #CHEER2016! =)

      • Abernathy Yohan

Thank you R.AGE for reading my comment and I hope you do consider my suggestion. See you at #CHEER2016 ! 🙂

  • Fong

i hope that cheer 16 will held at the sunway convention centre too =)

    • Hi Fong, Cheer will be held at Tropicana City Mall this year 🙂
