The fashion world has an increasing number of awesome collaborations going on.Fans of geek comedy Big Bang Theory rejoiced when stars from their favourite sci-fi TV series made guest appearences in the popular show.

And when Kanye West teamed up with Rihanna and Jay-Z for the song Run This Town, music lovers everywhere cheered for the brilliant collaboration.

Awesome collaborations happen often in the entertainment industry, so it is not a shocker that exciting team-ups would hit the fashion world as well.

The thing that makes a good idea better is when it is fused with another great one, sort of like when superheroes get married and have superhero babies …

This week, check out some of these fashion collaborations that got the world ooh-ing and aah-ing:

Alex Perry for Diva

If you’re not familiar with Alex Perry as a designer, you may recognise him from the TV show Australia’s Next Top Model; he’s one of the judges.

Recently, he teamed up with accessories brand Diva to come up with a line filled with beautiful and feminine necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and more.

Lavenders and creams dominate the collection, which also features a mix of gold and flower details.

Feathers, beads and ribbons intertwine to create unique fashion pieces that are delicate and ladylike. The face of this campaign is Australian model Elyse Taylor.

Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain

Kylie, Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez have sung their praises for this collaboration. It may not be a very recent pairing but it’s seen in the industry as one that stands out in the world of team-ups.

Balmain booties with pointy toes and buckles which gave a military feel to them became the thing to own when this collection first hit stores worldwide.

Shoe designer Zanotti has made shoes for many starlets, and has collaborated with every fashion designed from Roberto Cavalli to Vera Wang.

The Balmain collection, featuring beautiful bandage heels and studded sandals set runways and store racks ablaze and inspired many knock-offs the world over.

Desigual’s Monseiur Lacroix

Who doesn’t love the combination of lack and bright, bold colours, huge prints and patchwork that are signatures of Spanish brand Desigual?

Designer Christian Lacroix, whose couture business suffered a meltown resulting in bankruptcy recently, has teamed up with Desigual to create a capsule collection called Monseiur Lacroix.

The collection features about 30 pieces ranging from jackets to lingerie to skirts, combining couture class with boho chic.

The mix of colours and seemingly “random” fusions of embroidery, sequins, patchwork and other craft (yes, sometimes on a single piece of clothing) aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but with Lacroix’s couture background, the collection is sure to have a touch of class and sophistiaction.

Jil Sander for Uniqlo +J

If you thought Uniqlo designs were a little too basic, then German designer Jil Sander’s collaboration with the Japanese fashion giant was heaven-sent.

Although it still falls under the “basics” line, Sander’s input adds a classy, zen-like feel to shirts, skirts and pants in the collection.

Sander says the collection allows for luxury in simplicity, which couldn’t be more right as these understated classics come in the form of precision cut T-shirts, tailored shirts and button-down jackets.
