We take a look at some of the trends spotted at the Golden Globe Awards in Hollywood, California, on Monday.Awards season is back, and if there’s one thing everyone loves about an awards show is the red carpet arrivals of stars and celebrities.

On Monday, the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards was held in Los Angeles.

The stars came out in brilliant outfits and jewelry to celebrate the achievements of actors, filmmakers, producers and other industry players in American film and television.

While the stars accept their awards and party the night away, fashion designers, stylists and enthusiasts the world over pick up on the red carpet trends.

If there’s any time to be fashion inspired, its now – just check out some of the outfits that wowed us, and check your local stores to see where you can get a good version of it.

Julianne Hough

Check out the intricate deatailing on the neckline of dancer Julianne Hough’s dress. Although this particular dress is a little too swanky for day-to-day wear, the style can be easily incorporated into maxi dresses.

This year, maxis will be back in a big way, so get out there and hunt for these wardrobe essentials.

You can find dresses (long and short) with a similar neckline in stores like Owl boutique and Mori Pin in Kuala Lumpur, as well as numerous online boutiques. The beauty of a maxi dress is it is very “one-size-fits-all” and you can’t go wrong with an online purchase.

Gabourey Sidibe

I’m actually amazed that this cut has lasted this long, as dresses with a higher waistline have been popular for at least five years!

Gabourey’s dress is a great example of an outfit that can look casual and chic.

Despite this particular version’s floral pattern being a little too colourful and elaborate for my liking, the cut and modest sleeves make it a great option for a formal (but probably not black-tie) event, or a nice dinner party.

Shorter versions are perfect for any occasion, and these are available just about anywhere. Prowl the boutiques for affordable versions, but for quality and class, check out high-street British brands like Warehouse and Dorothy Perkins.

Natalie Portman

We all know Natalie Portman is with child, and she’s doing a great job picking “mum-to-be” outfits. This style isn’t just for the expecting mother, anyone can rock this clever cut, which helps enhance the chest area with horizontal folds in front.

It’s a perfectly decent outfit if you want to look sexy, but not skanky. For those of you who are lucky enough to have washboard stomachs, opt for a version without the folds down the front.

Check out Owl or F Block boutiques, as well as numerous online fashion stores for this trend.

Eva Longoria

Ignore the fact that this is a long dress for a moment and check out the neckline.

Bless the genius who observed futuristic space-suits and alien garments in sci-fi movies and then figured out a way to make this a hit trend!

Some may take a little while to get used to the idea of this cut, but it enhances all your curves, really. Plus, this neckline is perfect for showing off your cleavage.

For shorter versions of dresses with this neckline, check out British designer Karen Millen’s collections. Some small boutiques actually offer dresses from this brand at crazy discounted prices. There are even more affordable replicas of these dresses at Le Ann Maxima and Nichii.
