WE’RE looking for the best teen journalists from around the country to join our BRATs young journalist programme, and if you think you fit that description, send us an application!

We have just two more workshops this year in September and December, where you’ll not only get to learn from editors, journalists, photographers and videographers from R.AGE and The Star, but also go on exciting field assignments. And trust us, these assignments will take you to places not many people will ever get to visit or experience.

The original deadline was July 22, but since so many of you have been inquiring over the last few days, we’re extending the deadline by another FIVE days. You’ve got until July 27 to send us your applications!

Here’s how you apply:

1. Go to facebook.com/starbrats, and download the BRATs registration form. You can “Like” us while you’re there too. #JustSaying…
2. Select which of the two workshops you would like to attend – Sept 17-20 or Dec 10-13.
3. Blow us away with an essay or video titled “Why I want to be a journalist”. Keep your essays below 1,000 words, and your videos shorter than three minutes. For videos, upload them to YouTube and send us the link.
4. Send your essay/video link and completed registration forms to brats@thestar.com.my. You could also send it via snail mail to:
