If you have been itching to try out Magic: the Gathering, but have not had an inkling on where to start, now’s a good time!

There are two new special starter products just out, namely Archenemy and Duels of the Planeswalker Decks.

Archenemy shows existing Magic players an all-new way to play the game, namely, one where a “one versus many” duel can take place, thanks to all-new “Scheme” cards, which gives the sole player many advantages. It might be one on many, but it won’t be easy thanks to the Scheme cards!

There are four different Archenemy decks, each with its own unique set of Scheme cards, set in different themes. I must say that with each deck packing a decent number of rares and uncommons amongst the commons, there’s also one M11 preview card snuck in them!

Not an absolute must-buy for us veteran Magic fans, but excellent for newbies and beginners looking to score some cool decks, find a new variant to play and just have plain old-fashioned Magic mayhem in preconstructed goodness!

The other new product are Duels of the Planeswalkers Decks. Based on the XBox Magic game of the same name, five new beginner-to-intermediate level decks are based on each iconic Magic planeswalker.

Each deck also comes with a pack of M10 Core Set, as a bonus treat, on top of the five rares, a handful of uncommons and commons, per 60-card deck. One of the rares per deck, gets the full foil treatment too!

And just like the Archenemy decks, each deck is playable straight from the box. Perfect presents for Magic first-timers and decent products for experienced players too, I’m thinking some of you would be pleasantly surprised at the contents of some of these decks!

For example, Hands of Flame has 4 Lightning Elementals, a Kamahl, Pit Fighter and even a Banefire. The Eyes of the Shadow deck features a Sengir Vampire, a Mortivore, a Mind Shatter and an Ascendant Evincar.

IMHO, both products are excellent buys – so pick them up now! Satisfy your Magic craving till M11 rolls out next month, LOL!
