IF you’re interested in live performances, games and winning prizes, then you should come on down to the Star Online Carnivale this weekend, and visit our R.AGE booth!

From this Friday to Sunday ,11am till 7pm in Tropicana City Mall, Petaling Jaya, join in the fun and you may even win some attractive prizes!

If you’re into performing for crowds and have the voice, then come and register with us at the R.AGE booth for the busking competition. Busking is the art of performing in informal settings, and many an artist has honed their craft by busking. All you need is a guitar, a voice and you’re ready to perform. Bring your friends and family to come support you as well, as the crowd will vote for the best buskers. Winners stand to win prizes from Universal Music.

Busking is a way to expose your talents to the world.

Should live performance not interest you, then fret not. There will also be a cosplay competition for the anime-crazy. For those of you who don’t already know, cosplay is the art of dressing up in your favourite comic characters. One of the biggest trends in the world, cosplay is sure to attract one or two new fans.

Even if you are not into cosplay, you would be amazed at the detail that these cosplayers have put into their work. So come in your best outfits as there will be two categories for the competition, Video Games and Japanese, and the best cosplayers will take home prizes as well.

Cosplayers ensure every detail of their costume resembles that of the original characters.

There will also be a dodgeball clinic by the Malaysian Association of Dodgeball as well as the Taylors University dodgeball team. Dodgeball has been an upcoming sport in Malaysia, and R.AGE wants to take it to the next level. Prospective dodgeballers can come register at our booth as well and pick up skills from some of the best players in the country. As Patches O’Houlihan (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) once said, “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.” No throwing of wrenches will be allowed though.

Dodgeball is anything but dangerous.

Star Wars fans will also have reason to rejoice at the carnvial as there will be a lightsaber demonstration by FightSaberMY. FightSaberMY is an established team of performers who have put on shows of choreographed duels. The only thing that does not resemble the actual, fast paced lightsaber duels will be the ability of the lightsaber to actually slice through anything, or anyone for that matter. No Jedi will be hurt in the making of this duel.

It is a technology themed carnival after all. So what is a tech carnival, without a tech based competition? R.AGE will be tweeting details about the competition on the day. Just follow us at @thestar rage and we will keep you updated. You won’t be disappointed.

For those of you who have an obsession with self-portraits (we all do, secretly), yes we even have a contest for you. R.AGE will set up a photobooth and you can have your best R.AGE picture taken. Make it a really good one because the images will be made into avatars. We’ll put up the photos for voting, and the photo with the highest number of votes will win a prize from Edaran Nusantara Films.

If all that still is not enough to convince you to join the Carnivale, there will also be the TechCentral Challenge, where you will be able to summon your inner gamer to fend off zombies or burn rubber.
