I AM pretty sure that you guys already know how I spent the last weekend.

Almost the whole R.AGE team was at the Cheer 2010 national finals and honestly, I’m still reeling from the aftershock of the event.

Sometimes when I’m alone, I can still hear the endless screams from the hyped-up teenagers with so much energy even Twilight fans couldn’t match — and it scares me.

The screams and shouts lasted throughout the two-day competition, thanks to the never-ending encouragement from the hosts, RedFM deejays Jeremy Teo and Terry Ong.

Every time the crowd stopped to take their breath, the hosts would fire them up again by yelling, ”Scream!!!!!” and the obliging fans would do just that; they screamed their lungs out.

”I’m quite sure I’ve lost partial hearing at Cheer 2010,” said Terry jokingly. Well, Terry, you only have yourself (and Jeremy) to blame for that.

This is Terry’s first time hosting the inter-school cheerleading competition and from his energy and antics on the mat, I can safely deduct that he had one heck of a time there. His tweets (@TerryRed) are proof of that!

”If all audiences are like the Cheer 2010 audience, then a host’s duty is pretty much done. I’ve never seen this level of energy and excitement in any other event. It was crazy, wild, fantastic, noisy and mad, I tell you!”

Wow, Terry, run out adjectives, yet?

A little less (not much, just a little) unfazed by the craziness last weekend was Jeremy, who had co-hosted the event with Soo Kui Jien last year. He knew what he was getting himself into but still, he couldn’t remember the event being this energetic.

”Whoa!” was all Jeremy could say before two girls approached him for a picture. Click, click, done. ”I considered myself a little experienced when it comes to this event but I really should have brought along some earplugs. I had forgotten how these teenagers could scream,” he said.

Garnering more screams and applause was Iz Sulaini of One in A Million.

Iz performed his latest single Jauh and Jay Sean's Down during the score tabulation.

It was a good thing that I managed to catch him for a quick interview as he is flying off to Hollywood, California at the end of this week. Iz is set to participate at the World Championship Performing Arts competition, where he’ll be going against participants from 50 other countries.

”I can’t believe I am representing Malaysia at such a prestigious competition. I’m quite busy with rehearsals now, working on my performance for that day,” said Iz.

While in the US, Iz is also planning to work with some of the music producers there, to come up with material for his latest album — which has yet to be given a release date.

”I don’t know when my second album will be completed but prior to that, I’ll be releasing two songs — Jauh and A.L.O.N.E,” he said.

These songs will be made available in a thumbdrive that will go on sale in August. Iz revealed that his latest work is different from his previous EP, Gonna Be Alright.

”My first EP was something created to ride on the momentum of my appearance in One In A Million (a reality-based talent show on TV). It was motivational and inspirational.”

His new album which is tentatively titled Gemini will showcase a different side of this musician/songwriter.

”Gemini will be an extension of my personality. There will be five Bahasa Malaysia and five English songs in the album. The music focuses more on how I’ve grown as an artiste and my departure from a reality show. It’s more on my experience in the music industry.”

Sharm says: Break a leg, Iz. Come back with some good news for us…
