JENNIFER Lawrence’s character, Katniss Everdeen, is a hero in The Hunger Games. She protects her family and risks her neck for her friends (and sometimes even her enemies).

There is a scene in The Hunger Games in which Everdeen kneels next to a fallen comrade (who she protected in the movie) and on Tuesday, the paparazzi caught Lawrence in the same position, next to a girl lying on the grass.

Well, the difference is that it took place in front of Lawrence’s house while she was walking her dog and the girl was allegedly passed out drunk.

A paparazzo on the scene told TMZ: “Jennifer ran outside her apartment when she heard a girl scream and immediately called 911. When the EMT arrived, she stayed to make sure everything was okay. She was really scared for the girl.”

A rep from the Santa Monica Police Department also told TMZ: “The young lady who collapsed was a juvenile and was part of a group that was together,” adding that “alcohol may have played a role in the incident.”

Lawrence isn’t the only celebrity who played a hero recently. In April, Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey saved a teenager who crashed his car outside the actor’s house.

He used a crowbar to pry open the door before pulling the teenager to safety (aww … how very McDreamy of him!) and calling for help. The teenager, Weston Masset, was then airlifted to a nearby hospital.
“I was scared for my life, I was upside down,” said Masset who only suffered a concussion and an eye injury.

In January, Columbiana star Zoe Saldana also proved that she’s not just a Hollywood diva but also a good Samaritan when she helped a lady who was involved in a car crash.

Saldana helped the bleeding lady out of her car, called emergency services and stayed by the elderly woman’s side until help arrived. And she didn’t even care that there were paparazzi around and she looked less than put together that day. Or maybe it was all a publicity stunt? No wait … she’s not Lindsay Lohan.

Anyway, while most of us would be shouting from a rooftop if a celebrity were to help us out in time of need, Laurie Penny, a British journalist living in New York City would rather have the attention turned elsewhere.

She wrote a piece titled Ryan Gosling Saved Me From a Speeding Car But There’s War In the Middle East So Everyone Calm Down which was published on Gawker a few months ago. She recalled her experience, stating:

“I had just bought a nice pink wig to wear to a friend’s party. I was thinking about an article I’m writing about birth control and the importance of reproductive freedom to women’s rights, and I didn’t remember to look the right way. An actor happened to be passing and stopped me from getting run over by a car. I said ‘thank you.’ And that was that.

“The actor happened to be Ryan Gosling.”

The gallant rescue only cemented the fact that Gosling is a dashing hero who would risk his life to save someone else’s.

Okay, fine, he just pulled the woman to the curb before she crossed the road but that is a commendable act nevertheless.

“But as a feminist, a writer, and a gentlewoman of fortune, I refuse to be cast in any sort of boring supporting female role, even though I have occasional trouble crossing the road, and even though I did swoon the teeniest tiniest bit when I realised it was him. I think that’s lazy storytelling, and I’m sure Ryan Gosling would agree with me,” said Penny.

Sharm says: Why am I still here? I need to be crossing a road in NYC … so that Ryan Gosling could rescue me. And then marry me. And we’ll live happily ever after. The end.
