This just in: 16-year-old Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard will join Real Madrid, and judging by this video, the Spanish giants have got themselves a real world-beater.
Madrid paid a reported £2.3 million for him, which again, based on this video, is an absolute steal. The way he plays kinda reminds me of Lionel Messi. He’s just so direct — he runs straight at opponents, right through the heart of their defense, because he can. He’s that quick, that skillful.
He’ll be earning a cool £80,000 a week, which I suppose ain’t too bad for a 16-year-old.
So now you see why this kid got his senior debut at 15? He even managed to score five times for his soon-to-be former club Stromsgodset, and played three times for the Norwegian national team — that’s right, the senior national team.
He’ll probably go back to junior football at Real Madrid (with its “B” team), which isn’t too bad, since Zinedine Zidane is charge there. Now which 16-year-old wouldn’t wanna be coached by Zidane?
But I bet Madrid will hand him a senior debut some time this season, even if its for a few minutes as a sub. You can’t sign a talent like him and keep him from the fans for the rest of the season. That would be just cruel.
