Are your ready for the return of the various European football leagues?

No doubt a number of you will be starved for quality football action – it’s back now! Well, almost all anyways.

What better way to augur in the new seasons by having Fantasy Flight Games announce a remake (of sorts) of a popular fantasy-themed football-type of game?

Older gaming fans will fondly reminisce about Blood Bowl, the miniatures-based game of kick-and-rush medieval-style football, complete with the random acts of violence. Yes, like real football, except that players get more than injured. Maimings, and even player deaths are frequent occurrences.

The game thrived in the 1980s, and was produced by Games Workshop. Alas, it has pretty much gone the way of the dodo, except in niche pockets of die-hards who still dedicate themselves to keeping it alive.

Until now. Well, the Blood Bowl: Team Manager game is another one of those non-collectible card games, but it’s a clever way for Fantasy Flight Games to suss out our thirst for some magical and medieval footy action.

FFG announced last week that the game will be playable between two to four players, and will let you manage a team of Humans, Orcs, Skaven (that’s rat folk for the uninitiated), Dwarves, Wood Elves or Chaos.

You’ll choose your team, and decide on the tactics, and pretty much play your favourite manager. Except that you know that it’ll be like war, kinda.

And guess what, FFG wants you to send them your ideas for manager and team names. So write in now!

That’s all for today kiddies – I do realize there’s a bunch of other FFG updates, but I’ll save those for another day!
