Last weekend was all about winners, losers and the people in between.

Celebrities and their kids attended the super-fun slime fest that is the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2011 in Los Angeles (which is in its 23rd year!).

This is the only awards show where celebrities can truly let loose (without the help of alcohol, that is) and not act their age, without anyone giving a hoot about it.
Hosted by zany comedian Jack Black, the awards show totally lived up to its reputation of being one of the most exciting and messy events in Hollywood with celebrity guests and audience (made up mostly of kids) getting doused with green slime.
Jack opened the event with his own rendition of Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feelin’ and later introduced the group as “Jack Black Eyed Peas” (haha, how original) before joining them on stage to perform The Time (Dirty Bit).
The quartet was later named the Best Music Group.
Hottie Johnny Depp was the first person to get an award that night. He won the Favourite Movie Actor award for his whimsical character as the Mad Hatter in Alice In Wonderland.

Johnny seemed genuinely appreciative of the orange blimp (the trophy given out at the awards, which is actually the Nickelodeon logo) he received. He told the crowd that it was, “truly a pleasure to receive this award that comes from you guys. I appreciate it.”
The actor, who is starring in the upcoming Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides film, jokingly apologised to Jack for beating him in the category. He then sprayed green slime at the audience!
The freshly slimed kids got their revenge by throwing the gooey stuff at British actor Russell Brand and Modern Family star Rico Rodriguez who came on stage to present Eddie Murphy with the Favourite Voice From An Animated Movie (for Shrek Forever After) award.
Russell said: “I’m never having children!” Gee, I wonder how wifey Katy Perry – who won the Favourite Female Singer award – feels about that.<br>
Other celebs who got slimed that night were Heidi Klum, who almost tripped no thanks to her super high-heels; How I Met Your Mother’s Jason Segel; and rap mogul Snoop Dogg.
One celebrity who managed to keep herself away from the green mess was Miley Cyrus, who won the Favourite Movie Actress award for her performance in The Last Song.

Other award winners for the night were Selena Gomez (Favourite TV actress), Justin Bieber (Favourite Male Singer and Favourite Song for Baby), Justin Timberlake (The Big Help Award) and more.

Taylor Swift was a big winner at the ACM awards.

The American country music scene also recognised its artistes at the 46th Country Music Awards (CMA) where Taylor Swift was named Entertainer Of The Year. Meanwhile, Miranda Lambert received four awards including Female Vocalist Of The Year and Song Of The Year.

The Album Of The Year award went to Lady Antebellum for the group’s outstanding work on the hit album Need You Now. Band member Charles Kelley jokingly said, “Thank you, Miranda Lambert, for winning this last year and not being in the category this year!”
The trio also picked up the Top Vocal Group award.
Hosted by veteran country singer and actress Reba McEntire, and singer Blake Shelton, the audience was entertained by the duo’s antics as well as mind-blowing performances by Carrie Underwood (performed with Steven Tyler) and Rihanna (erm, that’s so random) who featured Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles on her California King Bed performance.
On home ground
Malaysian entertainers were honoured at Sunday night’s Anugerah Bintang Paling Popular Berita Harian 2010. Hosted by Raja Azura, Sharifah Shahira and Zizan, the fun-filled and exciting event saw new faces being recognised for their contributions to the local entertainment scene.
Taking home the Popular TV Actor and Actress awards were Remy Ishak and Fasha Sandha, respectively; Lisa Surihani and Shaheizy Sam won the Popular Movie Actor and Actress awards.
Ana Raffali continued her winning streak by picking up the Popular New Female Artiste award and Shahir took home the Popular New Male Artiste trophy.
Other winners for the night were Aznil Nawawi (Popular Male TV Host); Zizan (Popular Male Comedian); Faizal Tahir (Popular Male Singer); and Yuna (Popular Female Singer).

Sharm says: Congratulations to all the winners … and please make sure that Rebecca Black doesn’t win anything next year.
