Magic: the Gathering (MTG) fans will be looking forward to the next special set, as Wizards of the Coast is set to release “Duel Decks: Phyrexia vs The Coalition” on March 19, 2010.

For the uninitiated, Duel Decks is a special series of two 60-card decks designed to be playable straight from the box, without any need to customize or tweak it further. But should you want to do just that, it’s perfectly acceptable to do so!

The latest decks spotlight the classic conflict between the evil nation of Phyrexia and the Coalition forces led by Gerrard Capashen, captain of the Weatherlight ship. (Find out more about the backstory to Gerrard and the Weatherlight saga here.)

Many of the cards in this special set may not be tournament-legal (especially if you’re strict on playing Standard format/type of decks), but they make great gifts for intermediate players who have just started the game. Several of the cards in this set will have all-new art, plus, one card per deck gets a special all-foil treatment!

For me, I’m just beaming at the return of almighty Dark Ritual (which means it’ll be legal for my playgroup, huzzah!).

The decklists, without much further ado, have been revealed at Wizards.com, here.

Local pricing and availability will be announced at a later date. But, going by how MTG release dates are uniform worldwide, expect them to be in by the same date as the global release date!
