I USED to glance at fashion runway pictures from swanky shows around the world and go “Meh… this has nothing to do with me and never will” and turn over to the horoscopes page.
I didn’t think I’d ever be able to wear a John Galliano or Chanel creation. But thanks to high street brands and boutiques who believe imitation is the greatest form of flattery, cheaper copies inspired by fashion’s most creative geniuses quickly made their way to the racks.
Paris Fashion Week was last week, and there were some beautiful designs on those runway.
There is a slim chance that I’ll ever own one, but a girl can dream right? She can also scour the city for shops that might carry something similar.
So, I’ve picked out a few things from last week’s runways that I think, might end up in a store near you. Even if they seem pretty ‘out there’, I’m certain there’ll be several toned-down versions appropriate for your everyday dressing.

Layer me

This creation by Singapore-born designer Andrew Gn as part of his Spring/Summer 2011 women’s collection may seem a little over-the-top for everyday wear but I believe many women will go nuts over this design simply because it’s so wearable – be it to a swanky event, or in a shorter version for a dinner out with friends.

Suit  up

You can’t get away from the blazer – this item is everywhere! This Stella McCartney creation is beautiful in its simplicity, and can be dressed up with the right accessories and maybe a colourful top.

Pump up the Funk
I can totally see the more adventurous dressers rocking this look at an art show or music festival in the near future. Japanese designer Tsumori Chisato’s presented some pretty funky outfits at last week’s event, and this long-sleeved number not only screams personality, but is something exciting every girl should have tucked away for a special occasion.

Get me to the Greek

Anyone could look like a goddess in this bright yellow creation by British designer John Galliano for French fashion house Dior. While this design is full of intricate details it doesn’t try too hard and is just sexy enough with a sheer skirt.
