The biggest headache in the world plagues me most when wedding season rolls around – what to wear?
Last year, I went to 10 weddings. Of the 10, I wore the same outfit to two weddings, and bought four new dresses for the last three weddings at the end of the year (One wedding included a tea ceremony, for which another different dress was required).

This year, I am looking at at least four weddings, and the first is this Saturday. As expected, I’ve been fretting over what to wear for the past few weeks.
There are three reasons for this.

First of all, it’s at a swanky hotel, and no one wants to look like they don’t belong.

Second, although I’ve met the bride-to-be, I can’t say we’re really close – she’s a friend of my boyfriend’s, hence the need to make a good impression is imperative.
Third, there’ll be many, many people there, most of whom I’ve never met and probably will never meet ever again, but as my boyfriend’s mum advises ‘Always look good, because you never know who you’re going to meet’. (Talent scouts? Ex-boyfriends? That mean girl who tortured you in high school?)
Also, there’s Facebook, where anyone who cares will be able to monitor what you’ve been wearing, where, and when.
I’ve had people comment on my clothes and say ‘Hey, didn’t you wear this to so-and-so’s wedding two months ago?’ with a wicked gleam in their eye. Only slightly embarassed, I would respond with ‘Old is Gold’ or ‘Different shoes and accessories does not a repeat outfit make’, to which they would raise an eyebrow and stealthily change the subject.
Again, what’s the big deal? It’s complicated – we women can be quite sensitive to subtle condescending comments like this. No one really wants to be caught wearing the same thing twice, never mind the different accessories.
So I have three days to decide what to wear, what to wear it with, and how to style my hair for the occasion.

The salon will take care of my hair, and makeup has never been an issue – I just might have to pick up a pair of fake eyelashes to give my eyes a ‘fuller’ look.

I can’t afford designer clutches, so my RM10 faux crocodile skin clutch from Chatuchak market in Bangkok should suffice (and it goes with anything!).
The big problem is the dress – and I have a few choices so far (See below).

And should you decide there’s no way I can wear ANY of these dresses, suggest something that you think would suit the occasion!
