The recent spell of heavy rain and cold weather didn’t keep the celebrities  away from the glaring Hollywood limelight.

Fortunately for us busybodies, even the lowest of low temperatures couldn’t stop the celebrities from buzzing around in their Burberry trenchcoats, and providing us with enough gossip to last a week.

End of an era

If you haven’t heard the news that Oprah Winfrey is retiring her microphone in 2011, tell me, under which rock have you been hiding all these while?

The queen of talk show announced last Friday that the Oprah Winfrey Show’s 25th season would be the last to go on air and she’s going to concentrate on the Oprah Winfrey Network (yes, what else would she name her network?). Cue waterworks.

I know that it’s going to be tough for us fans who had followed her through every kilogramme she lost and gained, but if there’s anything we learned from Oprah, is that we can get through it.

It will be hard, but Oprah would want us to hold our chins up and move on.

Sharm says: The world is ready for a new Oprah, and why look so far when you have me?

Werewolves attack

So the Twi-nerds came out in droves and made The Twilight Saga: New Moon the movie with the highest opening-day gross ever!

New Moon earned USD$72.7 mil last Friday. Wow, that’s a lot of money there and still, Kristen Stewart looks as if she bit into a sour plum. Smile girl.

And speaking of the one-half of Robsten, did you know that the other half, Robert Pattinson (okay, his publicist), totally snubbed Ryan Seacrest at the New Moon premiere?

When the shameless Ryan ask the numero uno no-no question, ”Are you dating your co-star Kristen Stewart?” Rob’s publicist stepped in and yanked him away from the microphone.

Ouch, that must have hurt Ryan’s ego pretty much because he later Tweeted ”Robert Pattinson is class act however the rep he was with yanked him off the air and off the mic when I asked about Kristen. Unreal!”

Sharm says: Well, you can’t always get what you want Ryan!

Scandalous AMAs

Adam Lambert may be a newbie in the entertainment scene but the American Idol vet sure knows how to get tongues wagging.

There was a bit of crotch-grabbing, boy-on-boy kissing and simulated sexual acts on stage during the singer’s routine at the 2009 American Music Awards.

His over the top performance caused ABC Network (on which the show was aired) to receive over 1,500 complaints from viewers already!

Lady Gaga also got the crowd hyped with her rendition of Bad Romance, and Jennifer Lopez fell flat on her butt while performing her latest song Louboutins.

Quite a memorable AMA this one has been!

Some of the top winners of the night were Taylor Swift who won in all five categories she was nominated in and Michael Jackson who received post-humous awards for Favourite Male Artis in Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B.

Sharm says: Adam, you wanted attention and you got attention. Enjoy while it lasts.
