Melissa’s blogpost

In this video, I decided to share one of my mom’s favourite comfort food recipes – The peanut butter caramelized banana toast! It’s super quick and easy to make, which is really great for anyone on the go and doesn’t really require much culinary skills, so almost anyone can make it! It’s idiot-proof!

My mom decided to put this together one day, since I’m always bouncing from work to meetings, and sometimes I do something really bad – I skip meals. I’m not proud of it, and I’ve been sounded so many times by Mom about it, but now there’s no excuse not to eat something, no matter how busy it gets. The ingredients are pretty healthy and require no preparation – Like if it was chicken, I’d have to defrost it a couple of hours beforehand. But I don’t need to defrost a banana, so yay haha!

I’m sure a lot of people will say this, but I really do love food. I’m such a strange child, like when I get my salary, I’m not materialistic, so I don’t spend it on designer handbags or fancy clothes. In all honesty, the first thing I spend my salary on is always a good, hearty meal! That’s genuinely where all my money goes – food. (Please don’t judge me). When I’m at home, my Mom and I bond over cooking meals for the family. So it would be great to learn under Le Cordon Bleu and Chef Wan. Mom would be happy for me to bring back some new recipes that we could try together. And please please please pick me because I’m already so passionate and excited about the hosting and co-producing the online video series! I can’t promise you that I won’t eat half the food before it is served, but I will try my best not to. Pinky promise!

Ingredient of the week: Kepayang

THE kepayang “fruit” or buah keluak is actually the seed of the kepayang tree and has a rich history. Used to make nasi kebuli, a royal dish served to ancient Pahang royalty, it now has a place in Malaysian dishes like the Peranakan specialty, asam pedas keluak. Most kepayang trees are found in Pahang, but […]
