The fact that I am addicted to Twitter is, unfortunately, not even a secret anymore.

Well, not after the talk I gave at Menara Star a couple of months ago – aptly titled Confessions of a Twitterholic – at least. These days, I find myself on a one-man mission (okay, fine, together with many other social media advocates out there) to get everyone I meet to go on Twitter.

Just yesterday at brunch with some friends, we got to talking about Twitter and one said that he just don’t get it. I’m proud to say that it only took me a few minutes to convince him.

Last night, someone new followed me on Twitter. It was him. Success!

Now, it’s not like I get paid by the social media company to be their spokesperson but I guess, like with game, it really is no fun playing with your toys by yourself.

What’s the point of having a mobile phone, if there’s no one to talk to on the other side?

Sure, this may seem like a flippant and rather simplistic example, but just take it as simple metaphor from a simpleton, will you?

The other thing, of course, is that I have always been a major fan of new trends, new technologies and of course, new ways of communication (considering the nature of my job). Not to mention that I have made great friends – via Twitter and blogs (like those I made at Twestival KL recently – pic above).

Directly related to social media, I have been a blogger since the turn of the millenium, while I was still a student in Australia (in fact, top Malaysian blogger Kenny Sia even *cough* said that I was one of the few who inspired him to start blogging *cough). Then of course, I have been a fan of sites like Flickr and YouTube.

These days, of course, I’m a member of more social media sites I come across, just to try them out.

I have to admit, though, that I never saw all these as social media tools until earlier this year, when I got hooked to Twitter. I suppose, the term wasn’t the “it” phrase  just yet.

Well, I’ve not looked back since.

Today, I’m going to get to meet one of my heroes (well, I’d like to thank him for bringing social media into my life) and interview him.

I won’t tell you yet who he is, but you can bet I’ll be blogging about it here first. Need I say, “Stay tuned”?
