IF you’re one of those “live to eat” types – and let’s face it, which Malaysian isn’t? – you’re gonna love our latest project, the R.AGE Food Fight.

We are giving one lucky food lover the chance to become Malaysia’s next food celebrity, and take home – wait for it – RM10,000!

But frankly, the money isn’t even the best part.

The lucky winner will get to write a food column right here in The Star, host an online food video series on R.AGE (rage.com.my), attend culinary workshops by Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia, and learn from Malaysia’s original food celebrity, Chef Wan.

All you have to do to take part is send us a video of yourself preparing a dish or beverage, plus a blogpost to complement the video, and show us that you have the personality, confidence and passion for food we’re looking for.

But to give things a local twist, all the recipes prepared in the submission videos must incorporate one truly Malaysian ingredient – palm oil.

There are many benefits – health and flavour-wise – to cooking with palm oil (more info on rage.com.my), and if you can make it shine through in your video, you could be one of our five lucky finalists.

The five finalists will undergo a series of workshops. You will learn from the master chefs (like, real master chefs, not your reality TV contest winners) of Le Cordon Bleu, learn about the restarant business from Chef Darren Chin of DC Restaurant, receive media and video production training from us at R.AGE, and be mentored through the whole experience by Chef Liang.

At the end of it all, we’ll have a final, live cook-off, where you put everything you’ve learned to practice, and impress our judges, including the Le Cordon Bleu master chefs and Chef Liang to be our very first R.AGE Food Fight champion.

We’ll also produce a profile video on each finalist, and feature their stories right here in The Star, where they will be able to share their personal food journeys with the whole country.

So if food is your passion – whether you’re an aspiring chef, barista, cafe owner, food truck operator, restaurateur, home baker, culinary arts student or even a foodie with a huge personality – this competition is your chance to take things to the next level.
