Check it out guys: I’m going to meet Lionel Messi, Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres!!!

Over the next week, I’ll be travelling to Barcelona, London and Liverpool to meet the three top footballers as well as watch to a couple of Premier League games (my first ever!!), and I’ll be updating you guys about the experience from this blog.

To be honest, it still hasn’t really sunk in yet that I’ll actually be going on this trip, because I only found out about it last week, and it was only confirmed like four days ago!

I spent the better part of today looking for Barcelona, Liverpool and Chelsea jerseys (I’m hoping to get me some signatures =P) which I thought wouldn’t be a problem. I was wrong.

Went to a couple of Al-Ikhsan stores, where you can usually find tonnes of jerseys, but since it’s almost the end of the season, even they were pretty much out of stock/size.

I managed to buy one last precious Liverpool jersey (never thought I’d ever say that), and being a Manchester United fan, it felt pretty weird trying it on. But I’m actually pretty okay with Liverpool for a United fan – I did a summer course in Liverpool in my last year of college and absolutely loved the city.

But of course the jersey I want to have signed the most would be the famous striped Barcelona kit. Messi is well on his way to becoming the best footballer EVER, if you asked me, and this has been totally his season.

The problem is, I’m not the only who thinks so. Everywhere I went, Barca jerseys were sold out.

Luckily for me though, the good people at the Nike HQ were working… on a Saturday! Took a chance and gave our friend Andrew a call to see if he could find a Barca jersey somewhere, and voila, an hour later, he’d found one for me – also the last piece in my size, and only in long sleeves – at the Nike office.

Right now I’m watching El Classico, where Lionel Messi has just opened the scoring for Barcelona against Real Madrid in a scrappy first half. In about 12 hours, I’ll be getting on a plane heading to Barcelona via Singapore and London to meet the little Argentine magician. Amazing. I still can’t believe it.

Anyway, I’ll be updating as often as I can here, but it’ll be hard to post pictures from my iPhone. I’ll probably put a link to Twitpic or something.

Wish me luck! Hoping to come back with signatures on the two jerseys I have right now. Also wondering if Torres will be p***ed off if I asked him to sign my United jerseys =P We’ll find out!

Tell us what you think!
